How to Get The Best Antivirus Support

Computers have effectively changed our lifestyle but they are always prone of virus intrusion. As their importance is increasing a proper protection for them is also required. A virus can intrude into a computer through any data storage device which carries infected data and comes in contact with the system. If a computer is connected to a network, chances of virus intrusion become very high if it is not protected by effective antivirus software. The Internet has changed the whole method of communication and now the world seems as an area without boundaries. In this scenario chances of virus intrusion in a computer connected with the Internet have become very high.

What is a computer virus?

A computer virus is not like of a virus which infects a human body. A computer virus is a program that can copy itself and infect a computer. A computer virus is also called malicious software or malware. There are many kinds of malware also that can not reproduce themselves but can infect the computer. If files on a network file system get infected by computer virus, chances of spreading of virus will become very high because that file system is accessed by other computers too.

What is Antivirus software?

Antivirus software is a program that can detect and eliminate viruses on a computer. A virus removal software application uses two common methods to detect viruses. One method is of using a list of virus signature definitions. In this method the contents of computer's memory (RAM and boot sector), files stored on removable or fixed drives (floppy drives, hard drives) are examined, and then compared with files against the database of known virus signatures. This method gives protection to the computer against only those viruses whose virus signatures are stored in the database.

The second method is based on heuristic algorithm to find out viruses based on common behaviors. This method is more effective as it can detect those novel viruses that antivirus security vendors have yet to create a signature for.

A user can download and install computer security software from the Internet for protecting his system. There are many vendors who provide solution against different kinds of security threats from computer viruses. Some names like Avast, McAfee, Norton and Kaspersky are very common in virus removal software.

Although it is very easy to download and install antivirus program but it must be done under an expert's guidance. There are several things that need to be checked before installing this type of software on a computer. First of all, make sure that your computer is not infected by any kind of virus. Virus removal software might not work on a computer that is already infected by viruses. Some type of computer viruses mimics the behavior of different files; antivirus software may not be able to detect them.

How to Uninstall Symantec AntiVirus

To uninstall Symantec Antivirus, you need to close all its services, delete all files and remnants in registry. But not all of these things can be done easily, as Symantec "spreads" its traces deeply into your system. You need to be very careful when doing the removal.

First to shut it down. Like many security software, Symantec Antivirus constantly monitors the status of your system by its powerful background services that runs from every time when you start the main program. Simply disabling the main program will not get its services down. You should right click and close the tray icon, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the task manger and kill every process that is related to the program. But if you are like me, who is not familiar with all the entries of task manager but really wants to uninstall Symantec Antivirus, well, just get into Safe Mode of your system, in where neither Symantec's services nor other programs that may have files associated with it will be loaded.

Next thing is to delete all files and registry remnants. Main folders can be removed by Control Panle->Add/Remove programs, provided that you do it in Safe Mode. But the following directories need to be found and deleted by your own to fully uninstall Symantec Antivirus:

C:\Program Files\Symantec
C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec

These are where all the leftovers are located and unless you delete them and the relative registry entries, you are not likely to successfully uninstall Symantec AntiVirus. The problem is these entries are hard to pinpoint and you will properly risk a danger of crashing your pc as a result of messing with the registry. I did not want it so I turned for a help. A small application named Perfect Uninstall came as my final solution, with its force uninstall method. The advantage is, when you indicate a specific file/folder to Perfect Uninstaller, it not only deletes the file/folder, but also scans and takes out all relevant registry information, which is very effective to uninstall Symantec Antivirus as well as other Symantec software like Norton security.

Spyware Remover - How to Choose a Good Tool

Although the Internet has made information widely accessible and forever changed the way we do certain things, the Internet comes with its own set of threats. Any unprotected computer connected to the Internet is vulnerable to infection by malicious programs, such as spyware, viruses, adware, and worms.

In this article, we will focus on a specific type of malware known as spyware. We will discuss the potential damages spyware can have on your PC and personal information. Then, we will shed some light on how to choose a spyware remover tool for your PC. A good spyware remover tool will not only detect and remove spyware, but also prevent future infections.

What is Spyware?

As the name suggests, spyware is designed to secretly monitor a user's computer and Internet usage. This malware secretly installs itself on an unprotected PC and performs its activities in the background without the knowledge or consent of the user. Spyware monitors your surfing habits, such as the keywords you use for search or the websites you frequently visit. It may also collect your personal and confidential information, such as email addresses, passwords, and credit card numbers. The spyware program passes this information via your Internet connection to its author. Spyware authors may use the collected information to deliver unsolicited web content to the infected system and to carry out other fraudulent activities.

Apart from being a grave security threat, spyware adversely affects the performance of your system by consuming a large amount of system resources. Spyware infections may also slow down your Internet connection because they use the connection bandwidth to transfer your personal information and to download additional malicious files. In addition, spyware may cause frequent system errors and make your system unstable.

How to Get Rid of Spyware?

The best way to get rid of spyware is to install a reliable spyware remover tool on your machine. With so many different spyware remover tools available on the Internet, it is important that you choose the right one for your system. In addition, you have to be wary of fake spyware remover tools. These fake tools trick you into paying for them, but do not actually detect, remove, and prevent spyware. A fake tool will automatically scan your PC without your permission, while a legitimate tool will ask you before proceeding. In addition, a fake spyware tool may even install or download more spyware onto your system.

Here are some of the attributes that you should look for in a spyware remover tool before you install one on your PC:

The spyware remover tool you select must be able to identify and remove all spyware and adware related threats from your system.
It must provide real-time protection against spyware and other related malicious programs such as viruses. Some of the more advanced tools have built in antivirus software.
It must create a restore point before proceeding with the spyware removal process.
The tool must automatically download new updates and spyware definitions to effectively protect your PC against the latest threats.
It must have a user-friendly interface to allow you to easily perform a scan and remove an infection.
The spyware remover tool must include features such as online support and the ability to quarantine a spyware related file in case it cannot be deleted.
The price of the spyware remover tool must also be reasonable.

Spyware adversely affects your system's performance and puts your personal and confidential information at risk. A good spyware remover tool effectively eliminates the existing spyware from your PC and provides you with real-time protection against the latest threats.
